Moris Rasik

Joining MORIS RASIK since 2000, and served as President of the Board of Directors in 2016 until now, also has served as a member of parliament for two periods and in both periods served as vice president of the National Parliament, until 2016 served as an Ambassador of Timor Leste to Portugal.

Joining MORIS RASIK since 2000, as a Council Member, she also served as the Minister of Social Affairs of Timor Leste in 2015-2019. Until 2020 served as an Amabassador of  Timor - Leste to Portugal.

Joined SFMR, S.A. in November 2000 as a Program Manager, with courage and good will, he has succeeded in establishing this institution for over than 20 years, standing firmly as a Microfinance Institution until obtaining an ODTI License from BCTL.

In 2016-20028 with strong dedication and commitment has been promoted as Managing Director, in 2018-2022 gained trust as CEO and in 2016-2023 as a Board Member. Nationality is Narsingdi, Bangladesh and graduated in Master of Economics Degree. With skills and knowledge had tackled and solved problems and also being responsible for the sustainability of the Institution and attending many trainings at many institutions on board.

Before reaching his current position of CEO of the company, he played an important role in the management of Moris Rasik as Branch Manager, District Coordinator, Training Manager, Head of Operation and General Manager of the Company. Serving in the various position in the company, Mr. João developed proven strong leadership skill and abilities as an individual that help him to take initiative and steer his subordinates towards accomplishment of strategic mission and vision of the company.   

As an accomplished professional with more than 23 years in mid and senior level management positions of the company, he has been performing the position of Chief Executive Officer in SFMR since the last 2 years. Having worked with highly skilled international talent and professionals, he earned knowledge and experience in strategic planning, modern management capacity and innovating new products; and implementing his expertise in the area of operational and prudential Financial management, risk management, new product development, corporate governances and regulatory compliance.

Base on Mr. João's innovative contribution and persistent commitment towards poverty reduction, SFMR become one of the  largest and best practice MFIs (with 0.50% Portfolio at risk) in the financial sector of Timor Leste. As of now, SFMR has reached to more than 26,500 poor households and serves approximately total of 170,000 poor beneficiaries (approx. 12.6% of total population) in Timor Leste.

Moreover, he has been making significant contributions for policy makin of the company as head of the Management Committee and more importantly one of the Board Directors (staff representative) since 2016. He has been maintaining integrated professional relationships with the 270 staff of the company; all the major lenders and partners including Banco Central de Timor Leste (BCTL) and Government Officials on behalf of the company.

Mr. João made an important contribution and dedicated his professionals skill as a team member of the organization during transformation of SFMR to a regulated other deposit taking institution in November 2018. He has been involved in every aspect of setting up the regulated MFI including development of staff and board of directors, capacities, institutional infrastructure to meet the required criterions set by the Banco Central de Timor Leste.             

Joined MORIS RASIK in 2023, as a board member, and expert in the field of law and he is Portuguese.
